Lesley studied comparative literature at the University of California, Berkeley. After stumbling upon Joan Didion’s breathtaking essays in The White Album in the early 80’s, Lesley began a love affair with narrative non-fiction in general, and the personal essay in particular. Her own work has appeared in The New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, The Gettysburg Review, Brain,Child Magazine, Skirt!, as well as numerous anthologies.
Lesley understands the importance of breaking all projects into small, manageable components while keeping a steady eye on her clients’ larger vision and intention.
Lesley lives with her husband (a psychologist with an irreverent sense of humor), her daughter (a small, sincere person with an explosive laugh), and her dog (a hairy creature with both an attitude and an under bite), in Oakland, California. All of them are allowed on the furniture.
